Lauren Tagarao Promoted to Partner at the Intellectual Property Firm of Renner Otto
How will your new role help you meet your client’s goals?
As a partner, I want to continue growing our trademark practice, ensuring that we stay at the forefront of the ever-evolving IP landscape by finding innovative ways to address our clients’ unique needs and challenges. This includes exploring strategies to address issues emerging from globalization, new technologies, and the increasing complexities of brand protection in a digital world. Ultimately, I want to contribute to our clients’ long-term success by ensuring that their brand assets remain strong and valuable in a competitive marketplace. I’m passionate about finding practical and creative ways to protect and grow our clients’ brands while simultaneously supporting their broader business objectives.
How will your new role help you meet the firm’s trademark practice goals?
At the firm, I want to help foster the collaborative, innovative environment that makes Renner Otto so special. Our culture of openness and teamwork is a cornerstone of our success, and I want to ensure that continues as we grow. A key priority for me is mentoring the next generation of attorneys. I want to help cultivate their growth by sharing insights, encouraging innovative thinking, and fostering their confidence to be their authentic selves – which I think can be an asset in our profession. Building a strong team ensures that our clients always receive exceptional service, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see younger attorneys develop their skills and thrive in their careers. I owe much of my success to incredible mentors who supported and challenged me, and I think it’s important to pay it forward.
You’ve focused on trademark law for much of your career. What drew you to this specific area?
I’m fascinated by brands and the influence they have on our everyday lives. Every brand is unique, and each company has its own values and challenges, making trademark law an ideal field for exploring creative strategies to achieve measurable success while solving practical problems – an ideal balance of left-brain and right-brain thinking. I also love the strategic aspects of trademarks, helping clients navigate the complexities of protecting the core of their brand identity now while setting the table for continued success in the future. It’s a mix of creativity, strategy, and legal precision, which is exactly where I thrive.
