Biography

Mr. Harrod is a seasoned IP attorney with significant experience counseling clients in proactively protecting their business’s innovations and maintaining patent and trademark portfolios both domestically and internationally.

Brian focuses a substantial portion of his practice in the area of trademark protection and enforcement. He assists his clients in filing applications, responding to office actions, and conducting examiner interviews. He also performs frequent trademark searches and clearances. He supports his clients’ defense of brand assets in all aspects of enforcement, including trials before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, filing trademark oppositions and successfully negotiating resolutions in trademark disputes. He is experienced in initiating expungement proceedings with the USPTO, overcoming significant obstacles in convincing the TM office of officially open a review on competing marks.

Additionally, Mr. Harrod is experienced in drafting patent applications, responding to office actions and conducting examiner interviews. He has performed numerous patent searches and produced validity/freedom to operate opinions. He has worked with technologies such as tire compositions and manufacturing, battery management systems, home construction materials and methods, air purification devices, and high voltage wave generators.

Prior to limiting his practice to intellectual property, Brian worked as a trial attorney throughout Summit County, Ohio.
