Biography

Andrew is a Registered US Patent Agent with a global IP perspective developed over a decade of living and working abroad. He has extensive intellectual property project management experience including multilingual patent application preparation and prosecution, invention mining, freedom to operate analysis, patent portfolio management, and IP strategy coordination.

With a technical background in physics, for which Andrew received his undergraduate degree, Andrew assists clients in obtaining IP protection for a wide range of technical fields including information technology, cloud platforms and services, software, computer architecture, artificial intelligence and machine learning, semiconductors, and cybersecurity. Andrew also has experience with energy technology and mechanical inventions for railway and aeronautics.

Prior to joining the Renner Otto team, Andrew gained valuable experience as an IBM Patent Engineer and an IP Analyst for DISCO Corporation. For several years he served as a Patent Agent in Tokyo, Japan, preparing and prosecuting patent applications in both English and Japanese. In this role, he collaborated with partners throughout the United States, Japan, Europe, China, Australia, and India to facilitate IP acquisition, protection, and enforcement.

With extensive IP management experience for a broad range of technologies, a global mindset, and near-native Japanese language ability in addition to English, Andrew is able to assist both domestic and international clients in making strong, IP-conscious business decisions.

When not working, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and dogs, hiking, watching films, reading books, and playing video games.
