Biography

Trademark Attorney Alex Welsh possesses diverse IP experience, with a background in aerospace research in support of domestic and international space law, analyzing and presenting the effects of regulations & developments impacting both government and private industry. As an attorney, Alex has procured and maintained copyright and trademark registrations, and represented clients in complex commercial disputes connected to intellectual property infringement and misappropriation.

Currently, Alex focuses his practice on trademark applications, trademark prosecutions, and brand enforcement. He counsels clients on trademark clearances and the application process for trademarks and copyrights.  In addition to brand enforcement through various commercial, legal, and regulatory mechanisms, including opposition and cancellation proceedings, Alex manages extensive trademark dockets, both domestic and foreign. 

He is adept at drafting substantive Office Action Responses. He is experienced at the submission of renewal filing documents, drafting demand letters and takedown notices, and he has assisted in the preparation of U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board cancellation and opposition proceedings, as well as Requests for Reconsideration.  Alex has handled various intellectual property litigation projects, working on cases from consultation and investigation through appeal.

A graduate of Auburn University, Alex received his Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering. While pursuing his law degree at Cleveland State University College of Law, he acted as a research assistant for a leading space law scholar for several years and served as a Patent Clerk for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.  He was also employed as an IP Clerk for a Northeastern Ohio tire manufacturer, a leader in RFID and laminated films, and a boutique law firm, while acting as a Managing Editor for the law review.
